Poundage isn't every thing, arrow weight and velocity (admittedly these can be a function of poundage) but a fast low poundage bow can be as effective as a slow heavy poundage bow. Also light bows (30lb) are great fun on small ground game like rabbits (this can be cheap in Spain and Portugal) and fantastic for honing the skills for bigger game.
Hi Chris can you tell me more about small game hunting in Spain have you done this and were?
I suppose I have the enviable possition of having friends and family in NW Spain / NE Portugal so for me cheap is the air fair. However, if you regularly go to rural Spain / Portugal ask around some of the locals if there is any hunting to be done. good luck. I have Just been to Spain (La Santa Espina) between Xmas & New Year. Camped in a barn, very much back to nature and cold (it is at 1100metres) great fun and greater sport.
when I'm next over I'll ask around to see if there are any syndicates/groups etc.
